“Bringing Us Together – A Cultural Arts Event”
is an exhibit to be held at the Kingman Center for the Arts (KCA). The exhibit will be on display from August 10th through September 15th resulting from a collaborative partnership between the Kingman Center for the Arts and the Hualapai Tribe. The exhibit provides a cultural expression that imparts Hualapai Tribal “Deep History” as well as contemporary components that illustrate traditional ways are still a living practice among today’s tribal people. The event is an opportunity for visitors to learn about the Hualapai Tribe’s history, culture, language, ethnobotany, archaeology, foodways, regalia, and music through exhibit displays, video clips, and contemporary cultural arts and hands on exhibit displays. On Friday August 10th there will be an opening ceremony at 6:00pm with Hualapai singing and dancing that is open to the public. On Saturday August 11th there will be an interactive cultural arts demonstration component from 9:00am-2:00pm also open to the public. This will include demonstrations on yucca fiber twining, pottery, and pine needle medallions. This exhibit creates a venue of interaction that we hope will encourage all ages to take a moment and be with the Hualapai, The People of the Tall Pines. This event is free and open to the public, however donations are accepted to help with cultural arts demonstration materials and supply costs. The KCA is located on 208 E.
